Rozemarijne and translation work a perfect match

Rozemarijne Datauker heads the Gateway translation agency and is responsible for handling translation assignments. She engages an expert translator for you, monitors the quality of the translation and ensures that you receive the text within the agreed period of time. As well as managing the other translators, she herself translates texts from Dutch to English and English to Dutch.

Language plays an important role in Rozemarijne's life. At the age of seventeen she began studying Dutch, and three years later travelled to Israel where she studied Hebrew. While she was there she worked in a kibbutz with a group of British volunteers, who have since become lifelong friends. So began her love of the English language and culture. Communication in several languages has always been an integral part of Rozemarijne’s life. She married an Israeli and speaks both Dutch and Hebrew with her husband and children.

The driving force behind the translation agency

Following her return to the Netherlands, Rozemarijne completed a secretarial course and embarked on a new career in the legal profession. After ten years she was ready for a career change and ultimately took up a position as assistant information and communications officer in the Human Resources department of a large multinational. There the language of communication was English, and as she was keen to pursue her interest in language, she decided to train as a translator from Dutch to English alongside her work. It soon became clear that she had made the right decision, as she proved to have natural flair as a translator. Her colleagues were quick to appreciate her talent too, regularly calling on her to do translation work and give texts a final check.

The next obvious step was to specialize as a legal translator, as Rozemarijne had already had plenty of experience in the field of law through her work at a law firm. She began a traineeship at Gateway and following her graduation she began working there as a translator. Within just a few years she has established herself as the driving force behind the translation agency. Rozemarijne has found her niche in the translation world. She enjoys translating and is skilled at it. Managing, organizing and monitoring are all second nature to her, and her wide-ranging experience as a team player makes her ideally suited to her position at the centre of Gateway’s translation network.

Modern translation tools

Rozemarijne enjoys working with modern translation tools. Besides the Legal and Economic Lexicon and the Property Lexicon, both of which have been developed at Gateway, she uses a translation memory. This translation memory has been built up at Gateway over the years using top-quality translations, and is carefully maintained and added to. Using such a translation memory guarantees consistent and high-quality translations as well as prompt delivery.
