Guido Groos
Guido Groos was born in Rotterdam in 1956 and currently works from his home in Weesp as a translator Dutch to English and English to Dutch.
After finishing grammar school in 1975 Guido studied political science in Amsterdam. His interest in politics subsequently led him to work at the human rights organization Amnesty International as coordinator of the country-oriented activities from 1985 to 1996.
In 1986 Guido passed the state examination for translators/interpreters into English. In 1996 he decided to leave Amnesty International and after attending a specialization course in legal translating in 1996/1997, he began a career in translating. In 1999 he worked in the translation department of an international law firm and has worked as an independent translator since January 2000.
He likes to spend his free time on his favourite hobbies: football coaching and bridge.
Guido is at home with a large variety of texts ranging from press releases to requests for extradition. And throughout the longest of texts he maintains a consistent style and use of language.
